A huge box that I have about 300 old illustrations of mine stored in just - exploded. And I’m sorting through it, trying to somewhat organize this mess and throw out some hauntingly bad illustrations that I have kept for way too long.
I came across this architectural rendering job that was a huge nightmare. They wanted me to to make it look flat, like my style, but have it be an accurate representation of the building. They didn’t have any 3d renderings for me to look at, and weren’t totally sure what the finished building would look like. They told me I was welcome to look at their architectural plans, which makes no sense to me. I remember going to the construction site and they said something like, well it’s going to go here, kind of like this and that and they made arm gestures to indicate the interior courtyard. And then said, can you do that? Oh, and please mimic the style of this other illustrator we love.
I came up with something that included a mess of color overlays and line drawings. It all goes in the trash today!!
