This was the opener for a superfun project I worked on recently with Mark Tuchman, the Art Director for School Library Journal. The article was about international librarians, and for this piece we took the idea of Julie Andrews in the The Sound of Music and made her a fabulous librarian!

I just finished illustrations for a website and book cover for Evelyn Archer. The book is set in 1901 in New York City. It was so fun researching clothing and working on the final paintings. The book will be out in 2012 and I’ll post the other illustrations then. Click through for the website.

A quick gouache sketch of an abandoned observation tower that tested missiles in 1946 on Topsail Island. The tests resulted in the ramjet rocket which was the foundation of the guided missile program. This advanced the technology of jet propulsion and was a first step in the technology that propelled our space program.
But really, I would love to just make this my personal beach house.

FLOR carpet
Cynthia DeGrace at FLOR did a really nice write up on my Chair print and illustration work on FLOR’s blog on design. I am thrilled because I have loved FLOR for years and just a few days ago saw the Sophistikat carpet in Elle Decor and I love it! It would be so cool in my apartment! I also love that they are made with renewable and recycled content and have fun modern designs.
